RCMP say missing patient safely returned to Saskatchewan Hospital

Battlefords RCMP have located a patient who walked away from Saskatchewan Hospital on Friday evening.

Gordon Merrick, 55, who is a committed patient at the mental health facility in North Battleford, walked away from the facility at around 8 p.m. CT on Friday.

He did not return from a scheduled 30-minute absence on the hospital grounds.

He was last seen on the east side of North Battleford near Highway 16 where police believed he may have been hitchhiking to Regina to visit family.

RCMP said Merrick was located in Regina and has been returned to the Saskatchewan Hospital.
