Police are now saying that a teenager from Yorkton, Sask., who vanished a little over a year ago may have travelled to the United States.
Mekayla Bali was 16 when she was last seen at the bus depot in Yorkton in April 2016.

On Wednesday, the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children issued a release saying the now 18-year-old may have travelled to the areas of Seattle or Portland.

The centre added “there is reason to believe that she may attempt to cross the U.S. border and travel to those cities.”
On the one-year anniversary of her disappearance, RCMP confirmed that more than 200 tips led investigators to B.C. and the U.S.

The young woman’s mother, Paula Bali, said they had been aware of the information but it hadn’t been confirmed until this week.
She said the tips give her hope they will find her daughter.
But despite all the effort, the RCMP and her family remain frustrated as to what happened to her.
Her mother had previously said her daughter led a quiet life and didn’t do drugs, so “for her to just go off the grid doesn’t make any sense.”
