RCMP investigate shooting in Surrey, B.C.

Surrey RCMP says the victim of a shooting in a suburban strip mall Tuesday night is expected to survive.

Mounties received reports of shots fired around 8:30 p.m. near 148 St. and 108 Ave. in the Guildford area.

Police said when they arrived, they found a man alone in a black Mercedes suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was rushed to hospital.

Another person was arrested Tuesday night, but has been released without charges. Police said they matched description of a suspect, but were not involved in the shooting.

Investigators said the shooting appears to be targeted, and the victim is known to police.

But they said it’s too early to say if it was linked to other shootings in the area, or tied to gang or drug activity.
