The quick actions of a neighbour likely saved a West Kelowna home from going up in flames.
West Kelowna fire crews were called to a home in the 1200 block of Pettman Road late Wednesday morning after a neighbour saw flames and smoke coming from a deck.
The neighbour called 911 and proceeded to put out the fire.
West Kelowna Fire Chief, Jason Brolund, said the neighbour’s quick actions may have prevented a disaster.
“What could have been a big deal really turned out to be a small thing today,” Brolund said.
He said damage to the deck was minimal and the cause is under investigation.
