The free admission is provided by the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ and the Host it Downtown fund.
“With the announcement of free outdoor admission, we hope to make this into a real street party with loads of food options and music,” Donnelly said.
This summer’s festival will take over Smith Street in front of the Burton Cummings Theatre on August 11 and 12.
Tickets are also available for headlining acts at the theatre. The Fabulous Thunderbirds featuring Kim Wilson with supporting acts MonkeyJunk and Romi Mayes will headline on Friday night. The Blind Boys of Alabama, featuring the Mariachi Ghost and Jack Semple will take the stage Saturday.
