About 250 property owners in Last Mountain Lake will be permanently losing natural gas service due to safety concerns, SaskEnergy announced on Tuesday.

In a news release issued, the company said continued high levels of ground movement in six Last Mountain Lake communities has forced the removal of the services.

Ken From, the president and CEO of SaskEnergy, said in a news release that the company can no longer safely serve customers in the affected areas.

SaskEnergy previously disconnected service to 30 customers in the area in 2015, due to the impacts on its pipeline infrastructure from ground movement.

The service removal impacts 16 per cent of customers in the area, including Regina Beach, Buena Vista, Saskatchewan Beach, Shore Acres Sundale and Craven.

Impacted customers will be contacted directly by SaskEnergy and will have until September 5, 2017 to find another fuel source for their homes.
