Bombers Canadian depth at receiver gets thinner

An injury to Addison Richards has left the Winnipeg Blue Bombers very thin at the Canadian receiver position.

Richards, the clubs 11th overall draft pick in 2015, was having a good camp when he landed awkwardly during a drill. He will be sidelined for weeks with a knee injury.

Another Canadian receiver, Matt Coates, is also on the sidelines, although he is expected back soon.

That leaves veteran Julian Feoli-Gudino, rookie Brendon Thera-plamondon and newly signed Derek Yachison as the candidates to fill the starting Canadian receiver spot.

Head coach Mike O’Shea said it’s far too early to worry about the Canadian receiver situation. The regular season opener is still one month away and O’Shea says much can happen with the roster before then.
