Issue with fibre line resolved after causing black screen on Global and other cable stations

A problem with a fibre line near Saskatoon that was affecting Global’s TV signal in some homes was resolved late Saturday morning.

The issue was reported at around 3 a.m. MT. The problem appears to have been caused by a train derailment.

Shaw technicians arrived at the scene at around 7:20 a.m.

By 9:20 a.m., technicians were able to restore the Global TV feeds nationally and continued to try and restore the remaining channels. As of 10:05 a.m., the company said the “national channel feed challenge” was resolved.

According to Shaw, some customers in all regions were seeing a black screen on Global and other cable TV stations.

Affected channels include, but were not limited to:

  • Global TV
  • CNN
  • A&E
  • TLC
  • AMC
  • Golf
  • National Geographic
  • Nickelodeon
  • Disney Jr.
  • W Network
