Two teenagers were killed in a crash between a semi-trailer and a truck near Coaldale, Alta., on Thursday.
It happened at around 3:30 p.m. in the intersection of Township Road 100 and Range Road 192, about 10 kilometres northeast of the town.
In a news release, RCMP said a Ford F-350 travelling south “slammed broadside” into a westbound semi-trailer, causing the semi-trailer to roll.
RCMP said the driver of the semi, a 25-year-old man, was taken to the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 17-year-old driver of the F-350 and his 14-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
RCMP said both teens were from the Taber area.
An investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing, but RCMP said the weather was hot and sunny with clear visibility at the time of the crash.
Coaldale is located about 200 kilometres southeast of Calgary.
