UPDATE: Only minutes after announcing the Snowbirds will be dropping by, the Kelowna Yacht Club says that the fly-by will NOT be happening. The yacht club does not indicate why the event has been cancelled. The snowbirds did fly over Kelowna but nowhere near the yacht club. Emails to the Kelowna yacht club have not been immediately returned.
Original story:
The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will be making an unexpected visit to Kelowna today.
The Kelowna Yacht Club says the popular precision aerobatic team will be doing a fly-by in front of the club at approximately 1:30 this afternoon.
Apparently, the visit is the team’s way of thanking the Kelowna Yacht Club for hosting a member of the Snowbird’s recent wedding.
If you miss today’s fly-by, the Snowbirds will be returning to the Okanagan later this summer.
The team will be performing August 9 for Peachfest in Penticton.
