Students from Grade 1 to Grade 11 at the English Montreal School Board (EMSB) and Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB) are being invited to take part in a creative writing contest.
“We wanted to have students explore their creativity by writing,” said Ya Media founder Giancarlo Mirabella on Global News Morning, Wednesday.
“What better way to do that than to have a contest?”
Students are invited to write about any subject that interests them, with a maximum 12 page limit, including illustrations.

The top five stories per age category will be published in a book that will be available on Amazon, called the “Ya Storybook.”
The judging committee will consist of Mirabella, author/publisher Carolyn Flower, a group of Concordia students and a few professional editors.
“There’s going to be a really nice range of stories because you’ve got the really young kids that’ll do their drawings and whatnot,” Flower explained.
“For those kids who may be out there with their writing, it’s an opportunity for them to submit their story.”
Deadline for submissions is Friday, April 7.
