Honduran trial delayed for man accused in death of Martensville, Sask. man

The trial for a Honduran man believed to be involved in the 2009 killing of a Martensville, Sask. man has been delayed, according to the victim’s mother.

Verna Martens, mother of Dallas Martens, told Global News a federal government official informed her the trial is being pushed back. The proceedings were originally scheduled for Thursday and Friday, she said.

The reason for the delay is unclear and there’s no word when the trial will begin.

Fives months ago, Policia Nacional de Honduras arrested Charles Félix Sanders Webster for his alleged involvement in the Sept. 2009 incident.

Martens and his wife Krissy Larsen-Martens had moved to the island of Roatan to adopt a local boy.

They were celebrating their first wedding anniversary when Martens was shot and killed.
