Snow removal underway after intense storm in Montreal

Slowly but surely, snowplows are out clearing the streets of Montreal after an intense snowstorm blanketed much of the province.

“To ensure operations run smoothly, please move your car according to parking schedules and don’t place bins or trash bags on the curbside,” the city advised.

As of 4:30 p.m. Thursday, about 13 per cent of Montreal’s streets had been cleared.

By borough, the numbers of streets cleared broke down as follows:

  • Ahuntsic-Cartierville: 13 per cent
  • Anjou: 19 per cent
  • Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce: 9 per cent
  • Lachine: 11 per cent
  • LaSalle: 12 per cent
  • L’Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève: Data not available
  • Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve: 12 per cent
  • Montreal-Nord: 12 per cent
  • Outremont: 27 per cent
  • Pierrefonds-Roxboro: 25 per cent
  • Plateau-Mont-Royal: 10 per cent
  • Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles: 19 per cent
  • Rosemont-Petite-Patrie: 17 per cent
  • Saint-Laurent: 7 per cent
  • Saint-Léonard: 19 per cent
  • Sud-Ouest: 5 per cent
  • Verdun: 16 per cent
  • Ville-Marie: 10 per cent
  • Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension: 14 per cent
