After seeing the warmest February on record, Toronto started March off on the same note.

The forecast from Environment Canada for March 1 called for a well-above seasonal high of 16 C. It didn’t quite reach that high, but still hit 14 C around 11 a.m., breaking the previous record of 13.2 C set back in 2000.

With all the rain in the forecast, it certainly felt like spring, even though it doesn’t officially arrive for a few more weeks.

A special weather statement for Toronto ended around 6 p.m.

It warned of ponding on roads and highways as a result of the rain combined with the recent snowmelt.

A cold front is expected to move in Wednesday evening, with the low drastically dipping to -7 C. That’s about a 20 degree temperature swing in less than 24 hours.

Winds are expected to pick up as well after midnight Wednesday, gusting as high as 60-70 km/h.

On Thursday, a chance of flurries is in the forecast for the morning, then a mix of sun and cloud and a high of -1 C.

Toronto will see seasonal temperatures continue for the rest of the work week into Saturday, before returning to warmer highs around 8 C to start off next week.
