CALGARY- A young man is dead following a terrible crash near Cochrane involving four vehicles.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Highway 22 south of Riversong around 6:15 p.m.
EMS say it appears that two vehicles crashed, possibly head-on, then two other vehicles crashed into them.
Emergency crews tried to extricate a man believed to be in his 20s from a badly damaged vehicle involved in the first crash, but he died at the scene.
A female in her early 20s who was involved in the second collision was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
The third driver involved was not injured, while the fourth has since been taken into custody by RCMP. There is no word yet what charges that person may face.
RCMP are now determining what led to the crash.
