High-risk offender released from custody in Metro Vancouver

Transit police are alerting the public that a high-risk offender is being released from custody today.

46 year-old Donald Kocurek is a high-risk violent offender with a large possibility of reoffending. Kocurek, originally from Sudbury, Ont., has a litany of criminal convictions in B.C. and Ontario ranging from possession of a firearm against release conditions, to sexual assault, to theft of a vehicle, ending in police opening fire on Kocurek.

Kocurek is described as caucasian, 5’10” tall, 201 pounds, with grey hair and blue eyes. He is not permitted under the terms of his release to possess knives, except for eating, or any substance that could potentially injure any person.

Police ask that if Kocurek is seen violating these terms that the public call 911 immediately.
