One lucky person won a new home Thursday morning. The grand prize winner of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation’s second annual Mighty Millions Lottery was drawn live on Global News Morning.

Traffic reporter Daintre Christensen was live on location at the $2.3 million grand prize showhome in southwest Edmonton’s upscale Jagare Ridge neighbourhood, where the the winners of the other big prices were also announced throughout the morning.

In addition to the 5,000 square foot home backing onto Whitemud ravine and Jagare Ridge golf course, the winner will walked away with $100,000 in cash.

The home has a three-car garage, five bedrooms, a large family bonus room, rec room and an exercise room in the basement. The kitchen comes with a butler’s pantry, and the entire home is professionally decorated.

Proceeds from the lottery go to the Stollery Children’s Hospital. This is the foundation’s second year offering Mighty Millions with net proceeds projected to exceed $2 million.

Proceeds will fund priority projects at the Stollery Children’s Hospital such as improving equipment and upgrading unit space in the pediatric and neonatal intensive care units. The Edmonton hospital has more than 215,000 patient visits a year, with children being brought in from all over western and northern Canada.
