A Calgary businessman has become the first person to challenge Naheed Nenshi in the city’s 2017 municipal election.
Nenshi has been Calgary’s mayor since 2010.
On Wednesday, Shawn Baldwin announced his intention to take at shot at Nenshi’s seat.

In a news release, Baldwin said he had built and managed two businesses, Officejobs.com and Hire10, which help Calgarians find employment.
“Municipal government requires a dedicated focus on stimulating the economy, getting Calgarians back into the right jobs, and delivering a taxation system that works for the community and businesses,” Baldwin said.
Calgarians head to the polls on Oct. 16, 2017.
