UPDATE: Missing trail runner found

A missing trail runner was very cold, but alive when the North Shore Rescue crews found him after he disappeared while on an outing in Lynn Headwaters Park on Sunday.

The man was walking on his own when he was brought back by the North Shore
Rescue this morning and has now been taken to hospital.

He was only wearing shorts, sneakers and a light top when he set out on a run in the park around 1 p.m. yesterday afternoon.

The man has lost his way. His car was left in the parking lot, and that is when the search was launched late last night.

He hunkered down for the night, but started walking in the morning, and that is when the rescue helicopter spotted him.

“We are very glad that he is alive,” said Tim Jones with the North Shore Rescue. “I will be very frank with you. We thought he was dead. He burrowed into a stump and covered himself with moss. And that was the reason why we could not make any contact with him last night.”

The man was extremely thankful for his rescue and said he realized he’s made several mistakes, including going into an unfamiliar area that was closed off, and not telling anybody what his plans were.
