A snowmobiler had to be rescued off of Jubilee Mountain in the Graystokes area near Big White Monday.

Search and rescue officials got the call at around 3:30 p.m. Monday of an injured snowmobiler with a broken leg.

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue attempted to have the victim removed by helicopter, but fog rolled in, forcing crews to haul him out on a snowmobile.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Vernon Search and Rescue says they were called to assist in the rescue due to a lack of manpower in the Central Okanagan.

It says that the man was riding with a group of people and activated an emergency beacon when the incident occurred.

Vernon Search and Rescue says the rider was off the mountain by 10 p.m. and that his fellow riders had transported him to a nearby cabin while waiting to be rescued.
