Regina police are investigating a fire that broke out in a basement suite in an apartment building in the 2900 block of 14th Avenue Monday morning.
Regina Fire and Protective Services responded to the fire at 9:41 a.m. CT and evacuated the two occupants of the suite. Another resident trapped in a neighbouring suite had to be rescued by firefighters.
The three residents were treated for smoke inhalation as a precaution.
Fire officials said the blaze was contained to the one suite but smoke forced the entire building to evacuate. A city transit bus was brought to the scene to keep residents out of the extreme weather conditions.
After a preliminary investigation was conducted by fire services, who deemed the blaze suspicious, it was handed off to police.
