Several cars, two trucks, two buses and a police cruiser all skidded down the stretch, caught on camera in a viral video.
On Monday, the city made sure there was no repeat of that scene.
“It was plowed and salted, the way all streets should be,” said traffic reporter Debbi Marsellos.
Nevertheless, Monday morning was a rough ride for many in the greater Montreal area.

“The highways were snow covered, so any lane you went in, you’re just plowing through the snow,” said Marsellos.
“You were your own plow.”
While it was a slow ride, there weren’t many accidents to report.

All the same, it seems many drivers were ahead of the game.
“We had a few spin outs, a few vehicles that did lose control,” said Marsellos.
“Single vehicle accidents mostly, but for the most part, everyone was forced to go much slower than the speed limit and that’s what kept the accidents down.”

With 15 cm of snow expected throughout the day, Montrealers are ready to dig themselves out of their driveways.
“We are getting used to it. I’ve been living here for 15 years, so it’s nothing too bad,” said one man who was digging out his car on de la Gauchetière Street.
“It reminds us of Christmas and Christmas is coming,” said a pedestrian navigating Peel Street.
