The land is currently leased by the Saskatoon Health Region. The lease expires in July 2017.

Ideally, city officials said they want the space developed into a high-density combination for business and residential users.

“It’s an important piece of property on one of our major downtown corridors that we want to see some redevelopment on,” the city’s land director Frank Long said.

This is the second major downtown sale in the past couple of months. The old Saskatoon police headquarters on 4th Avenue was sold for $10.7 million last month.
