Teachers across Nova Scotia are in school Monday – but their classrooms are empty as the government has closed schools to students amidst an ongoing labour dispute with the Nova Scotia Teachers Union.

Education Minister Karen Casey announced Saturday that all schools would be closed to students Monday, citing safety concerns during the NSTU work-to-rule job action planned for this week.

Taking to Twitter, teachers expressed their frustration with the government, and their desire to be teaching students, using the hashtag #ReadyToTeach, attaching photos of empty classrooms, art rooms and gymnasiums.
