Memorial Composite High School in Stony Plain was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after a threat was made against a student at the school.
RCMP were notified of the potential threat at around 1 p.m.
Police said they immediately responded to investigate the concerns. At around 3:15 p.m. the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution. Police combed the area and cleared the school looking for the suspect.
Cpl. Kim Mueller said a suspect was identified but police are still in the process of trying to locate the person. Mueller wouldn’t comment on the seriousness of the potential threat.

“At no time was any member of the public, school personnel or affected students at risk,” RCMP said in a media release Thursday afternoon.
The lockdown was lifted at 3:45 p.m. and most of the students and staff had left the school by 4:30 p.m.
