Redwater RCMP were called to the scene of a single vehicle rollover on Highway 63, Saturday afternoon.
Officers say a Ford F350 welding truck was heading south on Highway 63 when it rolled several times and caught on fire.
RCMP say the 43-year-old male passenger was not wearing his seat belt, was thrown from the truck, and died at the scene.
There were no other vehicles involved in the collision.
Officers say the 20-year-old man driving the vehicle had a blood alcohol content more than two times the legal limit at the time of the crash.
The man, who is from Fort Saskatchewan, has been charged with numerous offences including impaired driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death.
The victim’s name is not being released at this time.
The accident happened around 2p.m. Saturday, approximately three kilometres north of Newbrook.
