Man killed in Saskatoon industrial accident

A young man is dead following an industrial accident in Saskatoon Wednesday.

It happened just after 8:30 a.m. in the 300-block of Tache Crescent.

Saskatoon police said a large piece of concrete fell off a truck and onto a 19-year-old man.

He was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

City officials said the man was working on the city’s sound wall project in the Pacific Heights neighbourhood.

The work is being carried out under contract by a private company.

The coroner’s office and occupational health and safety have been called in to assist with the investigation.

City officials said they will also be conducting a review.
