Kids and staff at a northeast Edmonton daycare were given a scare Tuesday morning when a car came crashing through the front of the business.

Luckily no on was injured when the car smashed into the front of Tender Heart Child Care Center on 118 Avenue and 33 Street. Police were called to the scene at around 9:45 a.m.

The front wheels of a white hatchback with a “new driver” sign in the back window ended up through the front window of the daycare. The front window of the business was shattered.

Parents were called to pick up their children for the day as emergency crews worked to secure the site.

Police said the 31-year-old woman driving the vehicle appeared to have hit the wrong pedal. She was given a ticket for careless driving.
