SIU investigating after single-vehicle collision in Vaughan

Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Vaughan overnight.

York Regional Police said they responded to a call around 12:20 a.m. near Weston Road and Steeles Avenue West.

A vehicle was located next to a parking lot on a grassy area in between several trees.

Two occupants inside were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision is unknown but a York police cruiser was also located at the scene and blocked off with yellow police tape.

The Special Investigations Unit is an arm’s-length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been a death, serious injury or alleged sexual assault.
