EDMONTON – A charge of second-degree murder has been laid after what police are calling a random shooting outside an Edmonton restaurant that killed a man from Newfoundland.
Christian Iyamuremye, who is 23, was arrested in Brandon, Man., last week and charged in the death of Dale Maloney.
An arrest warrant for second-degree murder has also been issued for a second man, Bicco Saidi, but police say they have no leads on where the 27-year-old suspect may be.
Maloney, who was 33, died in hospital several hours after the mid-August shooting.
Edmonton police Det. Scott Jones says the shooting followed an argument over nothing, and he believes that is why so many witnesses offered investigators credible information.
A statement issued by Maloney’s family says the shooting was a brutal act and showed a total lack of regard for human life. (CHED, The Canadian Press)
