Woman slashed in attempted Saskatoon street robbery

A woman is recovering from a slash wound after an attempted street robbery in Saskatoon.

Police said the woman was walking in the 300-block of 3rd Avenue North at around 1 a.m. CT on Tuesday when she was approached by another woman who was on a bike.

According to Saskatoon police, the cyclist then attempted to cut the strap of the woman’s purse with a machete.

A struggle then happened and the woman was slashed.

She was able to make her way to hospital where she was treated and released.

Police are looking for an indigenous woman in her mid 20s. She was wearing dark clothing and was last seen riding a light-coloured BMX style bike northbound on 3rd Avenue North.
