UPDATE: All freezing rain warnings mentioned in this story have ended

Parts of Saskatchewan, including Prince Albert and Humboldt, are under a freezing rain warning.

Warnings had been extended to areas south of Saskatoon, but have now ended in Regina and Moose Jaw.

According to Environment Canada, a low pressure system track east out of southern Alberta will spread rain showers and freezing rain across southern Saskatchewan and into west-central Manitoba on Monday.

Rain is expected to start in Swift Current early in the morning but is expected to intensify into a more widespread area of rain further to the northeast.

Freezing rain is most likely in areas north and east of Saskatoon as temperatures are expected to be below zero for most of the day.

Temperatures dipped back to -6 overnight under clear skies in Saskatoon before recovering up to around -3 by morning with wind chill values making it feel like -9 to start.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Cloud cover associated with a low pressure system pushing through build back in this morning with the mercury rising up above freezing by noon.

The warm up above freezing was timely as the band of rain and freezing rain had pushed up into the area and along the Yellowhead corridor.

Since temperatures were above freezing when that occurred, slick conditions will likely be avoided in the city and the precipitation that does fall will fall as plain rain.

Further east and northwest in areas under a warning are of most concern as surface temperatures are at or below freezing, which will result in slick roads as freezing rain falls.

Most of the freezing rain will fall east and north of Saskatoon. SkyTracker Weather

Light showers will continue into the afternoon under mostly cloudy skies as temperatures push up another few degrees for an afternoon high in mid-single digits.

There is a slight chance of scattered precipitation, either snow or ice pellets, through the day into the evening with temperatures struggling to top out at the freezing mark in the afternoon.

Wednesday-Friday

Wednesday looks to remain predominantly cloudy before another system swings through on Thursday, bringing a chance of precipitation, likely in the form of snow if anything falls.

Temperatures will remain cooler than we’ve become used to this November with morning lows in mid-minus single digits and daytime highs just above freezing.

Work Week Outlook

Another low pressure system will then swing through this weekend, bringing in a chance of mixed precipitation on Saturday and snow on Sunday under cloudy skies.

Cooler air will move in behind this one, dropping daytime highs back below freezing into next week.
