Police are investigating after two pedestrians were struck by a car in East Gwillimbury Friday evening, leaving one man dead.
York Regional Police said officers were called to Highway 11 near Holland Landing Road at around 9 p.m. with reports of a collision.
The man, who is believed to be in his 20s, died at the scene. A woman, who is also believed to be in her 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police said the victims were staying at a nearby family shelter.
Traffic Services officers are investigating the cause of the collision and are reviewing street lighting in the area.
