Hilltops national champions for third straight year

LANGLEY, B.C. – The Saskatoon Hilltops made Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) history yesterday as they won their third straight Canadian Bowl for the second time.

The Blue and Gold shutout the Regina Thunder in the Prairie Football Conference (PFC) final and dismantled the London Beefeaters in the Jostens Cup in order to make it to Langley, B.C. to face the Rams.

Langley gave the Toppers a run for their money heading into the fourth quarter up 21-16. Saskatoon answered back when Graham Unruh took it to the house for a crucial touchdown.

Unruh went on to be named offensive player of the game with 208 yards and six catches.

The Toppers battled back to win their sixteenth national championship 23 – 21.

Saskatoon was the last team to win three consecutive Canadian Bowls from 2001 to 2003.
