Banff police investigate body found in Bow River

Alberta police are investigating after RCMP said a deceased man was found in the Bow River in Banff on Monday.

Police were seen walking along the river shore around noon, with multiple emergency vehicles parked nearby.

RCMP Cpl. Laurel Scott told Global News a civilian spotted the man within the townsite of Banff near a pedestrian bridge. He called RCMP just after 11 a.m.

Banff RCMP are still working to notify the man’s family. Scott said an autopsy is likely to be scheduled.

The investigation is ongoing and Scott said more details will be provided when available.
