A Good Samaritan was injured when she tried to rescue a teenager believed to be in distress in Okanagan Lake.
The incident unfolded Thursday afternoon in the waters off Kinsmen Park in Kelowna.
Police say a man and woman attempted to assist the 16-year-old girl, a south Okanagan resident, who was about 300 metres from shore.
The fire department rescue boat was called and crews pulled the teen from the water.
She was taken to hospital.
