Temporary off-leash park for Lake Country

Dog owners in Lake Country have been without an off-leash dog park since mid-October, when fencing was removed from the Woodsdale Road off-leash dog park.

There are plans to build a new off-leash park on Cemetery Road, but it could be quite a while before it opens.

A budget request for site works including water, parking, and fencing is included in the 2017 budget process and the first special Council meeting to consider the proposal is set for November 29.

In the mean time, fencing has been put up on parkland north east of Woodsdale Tennis Courts.

“In addition to the Cemetery Road parkland property, we’ve identified some areas for potential use as dog beaches as well,” Greg Buchholz, Director of Infrastructure Services said. “The Parks and Recreation Master Plan process is still ongoing and a balance between the many desired uses of public parkland is crucial for the long term benefit of our growing community.”
