It was another warm day across central Alberta Tuesday, with temperature records shattered across the region and here in Edmonton.

Edmonton hit 19.5°C Tuesday, breaking the previous record of 17.8°C set on this day back in 1929. The average high for this time of year is 1°C, according to Global Edmonton chief meteorologist Jesse Beyer.

“The reason for this warm up is we have a big upper ridge in the jet stream,” Beyer said.

Edmonton is expected to hit a high of 13°C Wednesday, with warm temperatures continuing until the end of the week. Cooler temperatures are on their way, with a high of 6°C expected Sunday and 5°C on Monday with a risk of rain, according to Beyer.
