RCMP spokesman Rick Dellebuur said the transport truck carrying apples swerved to avoid hitting a deer at Waterman’s Hill.

He said the female driver made it out of the vehicle before it rolled onto its side and caught fire.

Dellebuur said shortly after, the truck was fully engulfed in flames and emergency crews moved all witnesses back a safe distance.

He said the 2011 Orbit Freight Ltd. freight liner was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
