Edmonton Oilers recall Taylor Beck from minor leagues

Winger Taylor Beck was recalled from the American Hockey League by the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday.

Beck, 25, has appeared in eight games with the Bakersfield Condors this season, scoring three goals and nine assists with four penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating.

He had a goal and three assists on Saturday against the Texas Stars, leading the Condors to a 5-3 victory. Beck’s 12 points rank him fourth in AHL scoring.

The St. Catharines, Ont., native has 64 goals, 113 assists and 134 penalty minutes in 251 career AHL games. Beck has also appeared in 16 AHL playoff games, with two goals, two assists and eight penalty minutes.

The six-foot-two, 203-pound winger has appeared in 87 career NHL games with Nashville and the New York Islanders, accumulating 23 points (11G, 12A) and 28 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in five career playoff games.

Coming off a 4-3 shootout victory against the New York Islanders Saturday night, the Edmonton Oilers face the Detroit Red Wings Sunday at 3 p.m. MT. Goaltender Jonas Gustavsson will make his first start of the season Sunday.
