Global BC is pleased to announce that Variety Week has brought in $653,000 for the children’s charity over six days of fundraising, exceeding the total previously announced on Global News.
The previous total was announced Friday evening during the News Hour’s live broadcast from the Variety Week Street Festival at Central City Plaza in Surrey.
Kenton Boston, vice president of news and information, Western Canada for Corus Entertainment, also revealed that 234 children have been helped throughout the week because of the donations raised. That number has since grown to 261 children.
Donations are still pouring in and the dollar total is expected to grow throughout the rest of the weekend. You can still donate at Variety’s website. The final tally will be announced on Monday’s News Hour.
Viewers can look forward to the Show of Hearts telethon on Feb. 12, 2017 on Global BC.
