South Okanagan teacher suspended after making derogatory comments to his students

A South Okanagan teacher has been suspended for two weeks after making inappropriate comments to his students.

Miko McGrady made the comments while teaching at Penticton Secondary School between December 2009 and June 2010.

Students say he made homophobic slurs and derogatory comments about drinking, drug use and their sexual activity.

McGrady is currently a grade seven teacher at KVR middle school.

His suspension starts this week and goes until November 16.
