A Leduc, Alta. man has been reunited with his beloved pets after his Jeep was stolen earlier this week with his three dogs inside.
David Leicky’s dogs – Dakota, Maggie and Callie – were located alive and well in Sweetgrass, Sask. earlier this week.
On Saturday morning, as he was getting ready to head out and put up more missing dogs posters, Leicky got a phone call from a woman in Sweetgrass saying she had his dogs.
“She had the dogs for a couple days but didn’t know what to do because she didn’t have Facebook or anything. Once she saw it on the news she knew it was my dogs and she called me right away and told me to come get them.”
So, he and his friend hit the road right away on a three-hour drive to get his “babies,” as he calls them.
“It was such a relief,” he said over the phone Saturday afternoon. “They were like kids in a candy store, like their dad. They were some excited. They were kissing and going on the whole time.
“I’m just speechless. I’m so happy and glad to have my babies back.”
Leicky said he was over the moon, elated by the news that his dogs are safe and sound, and grateful for all the help he’s received over the past few days.

Leicky’s Jeep was stolen from outside a Leduc liquor store on Wednesday night. After returning home from a shift in Nunavut, Leicky took his dogs with him for a car ride to the store.
“I take them everywhere with me,” Leicky told Global News earlier this week. “They’re so lovable and so full of love. They’re such a pleasure to have around.”

Leicky said he left his vehicle running with his pups inside while he ran into the store. He said he wanted his little dogs to stay warm.
While he was standing at the till paying for his beer, Leicky looked outside and saw his Jeep driving out of the parking lot. He tried to run after the vehicle but it got away.
The RCMP was called in to investigate and missing posters were put up around the Capital Region in hopes of safely bringing the dogs home.
Leicky doesn’t know how his dogs ended up in Saskatchewan but believes the person who took his vehicle likely dropped them off.
Leicky spoke to the RCMP on Saturday but there was still no sign of his Jeep.
Leduc is located about 15 kilometres south of Edmonton. Sweetgrass is located about 355 kilometres southeast of Edmonton.
