“He knew his way around. He knew his way up to her apartment,” he said.

“It’s a little unnerving to see how calm and cool he is when he walks out of there.”

On Thursday, police arrested Najib Amin in connection with Consuelo’s death and charged him with one count of first-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court Friday.

Const. Victor Kwong said the suspect and the victim knew each other and that Amin was also known to police. He declined to provide details on the investigation other than that it was due to continued surveillance.

Kwong added that Amin was arrested and charged in a violent home invasion robbery on June 12, after a 24-year-old man was stabbed at a house on Oslo Crescent in Mississauga around 4 a.m.

The man suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and Amin and 23-year-old Jennifer Masih were charged with robbery and Tola Omar, 25, was charged with robbery and breach of probation.
