Government commits $1-million to Corman Park for master drainage plan

SASKATOON – The government of Saskatchewan has committed one-million dollars to help the RM of Corman Park deal with flooding.

The Opimihaw Creek Watershed Association will use the money to develop a master drainage plan.

“The record amount of precipitation over the last few years has created flooding challenges for a number of growing communities in the area,” said Ken Cheveldayoff, the minster responsible for the Saskatchewan water security agency.

“A regional drainage plan will provide long-term flood protection as our communities deal with the pressure of residential, industrial and commercial development, said Judy Harwood, reeve of Corman Park.

The master drainage plan includes designing the regional drainage system and constructing water conveyance channels.

Along with the RM, the association includes the communities of Warman, Dalmeny, Osler and Martensville.
