Memorial grows for victims in Abbotsford school stabbing

WATCH: Abbotsford Senior Secondary remains closed two days after a violent double stabbing at the school. Community members are still heading to the school to pay tribute to the victims of the attack at a growing memorial. Jordan Armstrong reports – Nov 3, 2016

Tributes and condolences are being showered on Abbotsford this morning as the community is still reeling from Tuesday’s devastating incident at Abbotsford Senior Secondary School where two girls were stabbed.

Flowers and gifts are being placed outside the school by students, teachers, parents and residents from around the Lower Mainland.

Candles are also being lit to remember the two victims.

One victim, identified as 13-year-old Letisha Reimer, died of her injuries in hospital.

The second victim, a 14-year-old girl, remains in hospital in stable condition. Police said the teen will have a lengthy and emotional road of recovery ahead.

According to court documents, 21-year-old Gabriel Brandon Klein has been charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Originally from Alberta, he has been in Vancouver since February or March of this year but has no fixed address. He was supposed to make his first court appearance on Wednesday but was unable to leave his cell on his own. He will next appear in court on Monday.

As the City of Abbotsford tries to heal, questions are being raised about how this could have happened. At St. Anne’s Church in Abbotsford heartbroken members of the community gathered for a vigil Wednesday.

Abbotsford Senior Secondary will remain closed until Monday.
