Once officers arrived, police said they found the body of a man in his 40s. The worker was a City of Edmonton employee, the city confirmed.

A city spokesperson said the officers were called to a drainage project site.

Police said OHS is investigating what caused the death and said the accident appeared to have occurred underground.
