Landon Cyr, 4, died in a tragic house fire Tuesday morning almost two weeks before his fifth birthday.
At approximately 5:30 a.m. Portage la Prairie RCMP and fire crews responded to the home at Delta Beach. Initial reports said the young boy was trapped inside.
By the time crews arrived the house was engulfed in flames and firefighters were unable to enter the home to rescue the boy.
The parents and three kids, a two-week-old boy and two girls: seven years old and 11 months, were able to escape the fire. They are now staying with family nearby.
Global News spoke with a family member who said nothing from the home was salvageable.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family.
The Office of the Fire Commissioner is assisting with the fire investigation.
