SIAST academic staff split from SGEU

SASKATOON – Academic staff at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) have split from their union. 

Yesterday, the Saskatchewan Labour Board ruled the SIAST Faculty Association (SFA) met the legal requirements of a union and certified it as the bargaining agent for academic staff.

They had been represented by the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees’ Union (SGEU). 

Officials from the SFA say a strong majority voted in favour of the split.
