Driver inexperience factor in crash that closed Circle Drive at College Drive

Driver inexperience was a factor in a crash that closed both southbound lanes and a northbound lane of Circle Drive at College Drive.

Saskatoon police said the two vehicle crash happened just before noon local time when a northbound vehicle crossed the median and struck a southbound vehicle.

Two people were taken to hospital.

The driver of the southbound car, a 26-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 21-year-old woman, was not injured. She was taken to hospital as a precaution.

She has been charged with driving without due care and attention.

Police said driver inexperience was a factor in the crash.

Traffic had to be diverted from the area for several hours to allow for the protection of investigators and the collection of evidence.

All restrictions have now been lifted.
